‘Emoji Nation’ by Nastya Ptichek

Ukrainian artist and graphic designer Nastya Ptichek uses imagery from digital culture such as emojis and other social media notifications to reflect on how real life emotions are played out online and how online communication has changed the way that we communicate. I find this work very interesting in relation to my own work because my paintings express how social media changes identity and imply that people seem fake online, whereas Ptichek's work shows characters with no filter living their every day life but as if they are seeing other people as they see them through a phone or computer.
