Peter Wolland

Peter Wolland is interested in location, paint and art history. From a young age he liked to go outside to explore and sketch from real life. Wolland went to university in Wales where he created many paintings to re invent landscape. Rather than make the paintings realistic he made references to objects like trees and hills with shapes, his paintings started with simple ideas, shapes and colours. Wolland thinks names of paintings are very important for the message, he named his paintings after Sherlock Holmes stories because he liked Sherlock Holmes. Tried to make 3 paintings a week for degree show while at university. He moved on to start painting figures.
